ASHEVILLE’S BILINGUAL ADVERTISING AGENCY.
All right Asheville, a while back I mentioned to you all, that I was looking for the BEST CUBAN SANDWICH in Asheville.
My post on Facebook was so popular that many of you suggested a couple of places not in Asheville, and since the whole idea came to me, while I was having lunch in Black Mountain, I decided to keep it within a 30 mile drive from Asheville. Cuban/ Latino made.
All the Cuban Sandwiches I’m going to share with you are very unique, I want you to understand, and to know that I LOVE Cuban sandwiches, but the task to name the best is up to you.
However, I’m excited and happy to share with you all
MY PICK FOR MUST HAVE CUBAN SANDWICH IN ASHEVILLE
My journey started at:
This Cuban sandwich is delicious, made with Cuban bread and plenty of shredded pork and pickles…..mmmm, the mustard amount is just enough for a delicious and sour bite every time.
If I’m in Black Mountain, it is hard for me to overlook this place, because not only the sandwich is great, but the alfajores and the Cuban coffee is something I STRONGLY recommend you save room for.
Service is always friendly, the place is clean, old time family photos on the walls and a great Miami Latino vibe. The place has a variety of Cuban dishes, as well as Cuban coffees. This place is VERY POPULAR, and small. They have outdoor seating during the warmer months and a gift shop is attached to the cafe.
Price for this Cuban sandwich is at $ 11.95 and guess what? They even have a VEGAN VERSION!
* I have not tried their vegan version, but I definitely RECOMMEND that if you are visiting Black Mountain, this is a great place to get a taste of Cuba in the mountains.
Veronica is a proud BORICUA and this is the reason why you will find a big Puerto Rico flag next to a Cuban flag on one of the walls. The place has a colorful window where you can also order your CAFE CUBANO to go, or you can drink it and eat here as well.
Veronica purchased the Cuban Guy from the former owner.
And by the way this Cuban sandwich has a HUGE FOLLOWING, at least in Waynesville, because when I posted about my search for a Cuban sandwich in Asheville, THIS is the place so many of you told me I HAVE TO TRY the Cuban Guy!
Veronica fed me so much food while I was here, and I promise you all I will make a video for Asheville Multicultural’s page, because the energy and love she has for her concept is something I will love for you to support.
Veronica is cooking Cuban and BORICUA cuisine here, and I strongly encourage you to visit this piece of Caribbean culinary heaven in Waynesville.

MUST HAVE CUBAN SANDWICH IN ASHEVILLE ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The couple making the sandwiches at this trailer call themselves FOOD ARTISANS and they are NOT KIDDING, I TRULY LOVE THEIR CUBAN SANDWICH, in fact there is a podcast by my friend Stu Helm The Food Fan about our visit to Sweet Plantain and he makes fun of me for the sounds I was making, and the things I was saying, while I was eating this sandwich. IT IS AWESOME.
What makes it so good? The pork! This one was so flavorful that I can tell you at the time I thought that was it… I seriously thought my search was over.
Something remarkable about this place is they have a good size menu of sandwiches and their Cuban coffee is also FIVE STARS! At the time I visited, I met Michelle and Daniel who btw are not Cuban, but they are Latinos and I will add EXTREMELY TALENTED when it comes to the quality and flavors of a product they obviously done plenty of research.
IS THIS IT? IS THIS MY MUST HAVE CUBAN SANDWICH?
Well, It definitely is ONE OF TWO EXTRAORDINARY CUBAN SANDWICHES YOU MUST HAVE IN ASHEVILLE.
Sweet Plantain is located at 2317 Hendersonville Rd and it is without a doubt a MUST HAVE CUBAN SANDWICH IN ASHEVILLE
MUST HAVE CUBAN SANDWICH IN ASHEVILLE! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
And here we are friends, I have a pick for TWO MUST HAVE CUBAN SANDWICHES IN ASHEVILLE because Guajiro in the River Arts District is making big waves with their Cuban cuisine in all of Asheville. People are talking about this place a lot, and every time I have stopped by, I see people I know, and they always tell me the Cuban sandwich is what they come here for.
What makes it so good? The size I believe is a little bigger than the others, the cheese and the marinated pork with tons of ham and the tiny fries on top make it for a memorable bite, but be careful because if you go hungry like I did, you may bite your fingers.
Yes, that happened to me!
After I recovered from the self-inflicted bite, I counted 5 latinos eating here…….. Now, this is the River Arts District, and not much latin food around here… but the latinos I met on this day were coming here for lunch from all over Asheville, yes they were all locals and they told me this is their favorite Cuban sandwich.
I’m not surprised people are loving it, and Guajiro just opened a few months ago, however, it is becoming a destination for many of us locals fast!
Well, I seriously doubt this will happen again, but for now, I HAVE TWO PICKS FOR MUST HAVE CUBAN SANDWICH IN ASHEVILLE!
